On Valentine’s Day

Brace yourself ladies and gentlemen….that one time of the year where love and romance are made a holiday has rolled around again. To some men the idea of this so called holiday may be stressful and overwhelming, while to others, it is a piece of cake.

When we think of V-day, the most common things that come to mind are a dozen long steam roses, champagne, a nice dinner out, chocolate, and expensive jewelry; basically all the traditional Valentine’s gifts the providers love to push on the consumers. Although all these gifts are nice, from my point of view, I believe Valentine’s Day can be celebrated in a more impressive way, through thoughtful and often less expensive gifts that touch a women’s heart. Yes, women do love to be spoiled by men with love and gifts, but to us sometimes the little thoughtful things go a lot further than just a quickly purchased item. As the saying goes it really is the thought that counts. By putting a little thought into the day you will show us women what you are capable of and expose that more romantic side.

Here are some examples of ways to make Valentine’s truly special:

• Instead of taking your significant other to a four star restaurant, how about cooking a romantic dinner for two and setting up a nice candle lit dinner table. This will show your someone special that you love her on another level.  She will love that you took the time to make it all happen just for her.
• Invite her over for a special movie night, just the two of you complete with popcorn and hot coco already made. Show her that you have been thinking about her on this day by renting her favorite movie to watch. Some great V-day movies are “Love Actually”. “You’ve got mail”, “The Notebook.”   Pretty much anything romantic she will love.
• Buy her a gift from the heart.  It doesn’t have to be expensive; a little something to show her how much you love her.

Alright now ladies, we all know you want to look good for your man on this special day. This is a task that can be made extremely simple. When I think of a perfect outfit for this day, one thing comes to mind: I want to be chic but sexy. In my opinion, men love to see us sexy, but simple and not over the top. Sometimes less really is more. If you are going out on a dinner date wear a simple but sexy cocktail dress in red or black, paired with some pumps or strappy heals. Beware of the style and length of your dress though ladies.  We want to be sexy, but still sophisticated. But of course what goes underneath that dress is a free for all!

Just remember to have a good time and enjoy yourself on Valentine’s Day!
